Printed T-shirts can look great for a long time if you treat them right. Most damage happens in the washer and dryer, so a few small habits make a big difference.
1. Turn it inside out
Washing your tee inside out protects the print from rubbing against other clothes, zippers and the drum of the machine.
2. Use cold water
Cold water is gentler on both the fabric and the print. It also helps reduce shrinking and color fading.
3. Wash with similar colors
Group darks with darks and lights with lights. This keeps white and light tees from picking up color from other clothes.
4. Choose a gentle cycle and mild detergent
A gentle or delicate cycle with a mild detergent is enough for everyday T-shirts. Skip bleach, which can damage both fabric and print.
5. Dry low or hang dry
High heat is the biggest enemy of printed shirts. Tumble dry on low, or better, hang your tee to dry.
6. Don't iron the print
If you need to iron, turn the shirt inside out and avoid ironing directly on the design.
7. Fold, don't hang heavy
Folding your tees keeps the neck and shoulders from stretching over time.
